Grant Guidelines – The Dian Plant Charitable Trust

The Dian Plant Charitable Trust provides grants to UK-registered charities that align with its mission of supporting animal welfare. To ensure funding is directed where it will have the greatest impact, the Trust has specific eligibility criteria and funding priorities.

The Trust Will NOT Support:

● Charities registered outside the UK.

● Charities offering lifetime sanctuary to animals without efforts to re-home, foster, or rehabilitate—unless for endangered species.

● Charities that import animals from overseas unless they meet strict welfare and biosecurity criteria.

● Charities that do not have a clear and humane euthanasia policy for animals that cannot have a reasonable quality of life due to medical or behavioural issues.

● Charities with financial reserves exceeding one year’s expenditure, unless funds are allocated for a specific project.

● Charities that spend an excessive proportion of their income on administration or cannot justify their cost per animal helped.

● Applications for loans.

● Overseas charities seeking funding for capital expenditure.

● Veterinary schools, unless funds directly benefit animal welfare (e.g., low-cost treatment projects).

Eligibility Requirements:

The Dian Plant Charitable Trust expects applicants with an annual income over £5,000 to be registered charities for at least 12 months with one of the following:

● The Charity Commission for England and Wales

● The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator

Funding Priorities:

The Trust prioritises applications from animal welfare charities in the local area of Nantwich and are also required to:

● Have up-to-date, independently examined annual accounts.

● Actively re-home and rehabilitate animals in their care.

The Trust provides funding for:

  1. General running costs for rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of animals.

  2. Veterinary fees and neutering costs for animals owned by those facing financial hardship.

  3. Welfare projects and programmes

  4. Property and Building Improvement
